Summary:

When Atlantis finally got the go-ahead to return to Pegasus, Rodney didn’t go with them. He stayed on Earth, with Jennifer. As the months pass, though, Rodney finds he misses more about his time in Atlantis than he realized. He also realizes—with a little help from one Jeannie Miller—that perhaps his unrequited crush on his best friend may not be as unrequited as he’d originally thought. So, newly single, Rodney sets plans in motion to move back to Atlantis but his return is not what he thought it would be.

John Sheppard has gone missing and no one knows where he is. In order to find out if John returns his feelings, Rodney first has to find him.

This is one of those fics with a lot of comfort. Sometimes you just want to read a fic where John and Rodney are clearly in love and aren't afraid to be affection with one another, and this is that fic. Lots of touching and kissing and asjfka;a

I'm still plucking away at my romancingmcshep fic. It's slow going, and not helped that I stupidly opened up Sims 4 two nights in a row - and thus lost two nights to it. But not this tonight!

I really wanted to cut out all the David & Patrick scenes from Schitt's Creek and create compilation videos to share the love. But vimeo only lets you upload so much, and youtube went "Copyrighted!" when I tried. I might just stick them in my dropbox and link to them, because David & Patrick are The Cutest. You can see some giftsets and such here on my tumblr. I even have a fic idea for them! A sentinel AU, because every fandom should have one.

Also, if you're not following mcsheppers, you should be. I thought it wasn't fair that people who don't care for tumblr can't experience a steady stream of McShep stuff, so I've started crossposting. My McShep-Everyday tumblr posts 4 times a day. At the end of the day (because that's when I get out of work), I take the 4 posts and make sure they end up on dreamwidth and pillowfort. It does mean you get a sudden end-of-day McShep rush, but that's better than no rush at all. Also, it's like 95% screenshots. Still: their FACES amirite?

atlantisfilmfestival is a challenge that runs from March to June, which puts it between romancingmcshep / sga_saturday 's Romancing SGA and the sgareversebang. All types of fanworks are welcome, featuring all ships - or no ships, if gen is where your heart lives. The minimum word count is 1,000 words.

This lady tweeted David a picture of herself wearing a really awesome SGA hoodie that looks just like his season 1 jacket. And you know what? THEY'RE NOT THAT EXPENSIVE.

"Nothing happens to post about in the SGA fandom," I said, and sgamadison  rightly responded that not posting is just making the fandom even quieter. There's more activity on tumblr, but I miss actual discussions. Though I'm giving serious consideration to setting up an automatic crossposter between mcshep-everyday and dreamwidth/livejournal to try and boost the fandom over here.

Anyway, in an effort to bring fandom back to journaling sites:

I've been reading Pegasus Purgatorio lately. I have only read it once, way back when I first joined the fandom, so it's practically brand new to me. It's interesting how the author twisted canon - like making Kanaan the leader of Michael's mutants. I do love the idea of Atlantis evacuating Pegasus planets to empty Milky Way ones, though. I have no idea how John and Rodney are going to make it back to Earth, though lol.

Lately, I've been giving a lot of thought to rereading fics I've only been through once, a long time ago - fics like The Whaleverse and A Face That Nobody Knows. I've also given some thought to reading the Ex Patria series, but I already know that John and Rodney being in an open relationship is going to bother me, so why torture myself? BUT THE PLOT LOOKS SO COOL. But their relationship...but the PLOT... Anyway, If you're cool with that kind of thing, you should check that series out - I've heard nothing but good things! If it helps, I think I was told that John & Rodney are only ever explicitly with each other. I think.

I've been making brief forays in to the Harry Potter fandom too, but I am EPIC picky about my HP fic. All of it basically has to be EWE (epilogue? what epilogue?). I don't care if it's Hogwart's Eight Year fic, or something that takes place more in the future, but I'm not interested in reading fic set back during book 5, say. If you're looking for an amazing author, check out saras_girl. She single-handedly got me back into HP after more than a decade away from the fandom.

I also read Cinderwings, an Dean/Castiel Supernatural sort-of Cinderella AU, but it's so much more than that.

Not too long ago, I finished reading Strong Poison, a Peter Wimsey novel. I was surprised by how fast I became smitten with Peter <3 I already have the next book (I'm focusing on the ones that have Harriet Vane in them) but I have to be in the mood for books.

What is everyone reading these days?

A friend of mine asked me to locate a fic for her and in the process of googling, I stumbled on some old sgastoryfinder searches for a fic called All Change. It wasn't up for long after completion, and the author was encouraging people to save a copy. And you know me: new (to me), long McShep fic? I NEED IT.

I finally got in contact with someone who linked me to a google doc folder of the fic - with every chapter in a separate .doc file. And they aren't numbered (except for the first three), so I had three goals:
1). Figure out what order it went in
2). Combine it all into one file.
3). Give it a summary.

And I have (after 3 days of non-stop work)! I even mocked up an ao3 format for the fic, lol.

Elizabeth resigns, opening the door for a change in leadership that bodes ill for Atlantis. Around the same time, AR-1 meets with an advanced, telepathic civilization that seems to charm any who come in contact with them. One man in particular takes an interest in Rodney, and John’s not at all certain of the intentions behind this civilization’s generosity.
