Date: 2008-10-10 04:16 am (UTC)YES! And it definitely doesn't help that her main victim is her daughter. Children are so...helpless, and this was the child's mother. So yeah, she definitely comes off as worse than any of the other..."villians", for lack of better word.
Haha, much to fangirl's displeasure, it'll probably be the only canon pairing. Have you read the current food arc? If not, then don't read the rest of this paragraph: Watanuki was upset that Doumeki wouldn't eat his food. How cute is that?
Oh, I adore Tanpopo. Such a happy little bird, and I'm so glad that Himawari has something that can be around her, even if she isn't a favorite character of mine. Nobody should be alone. I haven't watched all of the second xxxHolic season.
O.O SERIOUSLY? I know I found a doujin where Haruka is sort-of flirting with Watanuki, then Doumeki shows up and Haruka hands Watanuki off to Doumeki. Yes -- Watanuki attaches family status to those older and wiser than him, so naturally he cares. YES! Yuuko is Watanuki's mentor, his mother-figure. I've never seen a romantic moment between them, unless you couldn't Yuuko teasing Watanuki about stripping, or her comments about how love in that one chapter.

Date: 2008-10-10 04:47 am (UTC)Yeah, I've read it, and it's definitely too cute for words. :3
Though I was terrified for a moment that her food was noxious, or something, and Doumeki would suffer some serious consequences for eating that morsel of her food.
You haven't lost much. The second season deviates too much from the most important aspects of the plot, but it does have its great moments. The birth of Tampopo, and a moment in the last episode when Watanuki actually grabs Doumeki and claps his hand over his mouth (and nose) to stop him from saying I-don't-remember-what, and Doumeki actually begins to turn purple... then blue... but doesn't struggle to free himself at all. Methinks he was just too happy to have Watanuki grabbing him. XD
I was actually considering turning that little bit into an icon with "I can die happy now" over him. XD
Watanuki can't be the only one Yuuko flirts with. I think that's just one more way in which she projects a threatening image. It certainly would help to reduce any male customer (which we've never seen so far, save for the old man with the moon birds) to a drooling and nearly incoherent (and totally manipulable) mass.
I still think (in typical fangirl fashion) that all her teasing about love is actually directed towards Doumeki and him. Hey, I can dream, can't I? :P

Date: 2008-10-11 07:28 am (UTC)YES, ME TOO! I was terrified for the same reason. But he was fine, thank goodness. I wonder what the point of this arc is? I'm re-reading the entire series XD It's so good.
Does it? I hate when the anime or a movie is different from the book. That happened in the last episode, you said? I want to see that. Doumeki probably was happy just to have Watanuki touch him =P It'd be an adorable icon, that's for sure!
Mm, true. Yuuko's manipulative, and if she can get someone to do what she wants with a little cleaveage, than why not? I think her teasing about love is about Doumeki, too. Since he can't ever be with Himawari because of her curse, and he and Doumeki have a "deep connection"...of course, I think CLAMP is going to purposely keep the 104 subtle and ambiguous, because the manga's "seinen", which is for older men, I think.

Date: 2008-10-14 06:26 am (UTC)Yesm, that's what I thought, too. And he makes a really funny "I'm dying here, in case you didn't notice" noise that always makes me giggle. XD
Yeah, but that's no different from their other series. Even Touya and Yukito, who are practically the most transparent couple in their entire works, never openly admit to their relationship... though both of them admit, seperately, to loving the other. "he's my special person" and stuff, but you have to read between the lines. :P

Date: 2008-10-26 05:30 am (UTC)I think part of what makes the series so great is that they all connect together. I love how Legal Drug connects to xxxHolic, and xxxHolic to Tsubasa. It makes the series feel less (this probably sounds stupid) alone.
*Giggle* I love scenes like those.
Clamp is a tricky group of woman. But the fact that they used to draw yaoi doujinshi pretty much allows readers to realize that "He's my special person" is pretty much an anvil-sized revelation. I really want Watanuki and Doumeki to have "He's my special person" moment, though perhaps not quite in those words. Probably won't happen, considering the manga is "seinen".

Date: 2008-10-26 01:42 pm (UTC)I love how they criss-cross because it makes their universe seem more real. A story doesn’t only involve the main characters, secondary characters have their own stories, too. When they get heir own story in another series, it’s almost as if they were really alive. :3
Well, we’ve had “he doesn’t want you to disappear”, “your relationship will run deeper”, “you are becoming one with him”, the whole saving each other’s lives, plus “I like your food”, “sharing the burden”, that whole “thank you” and “I want to see how your face looks like” moment, the mittens, the eye... and let’s not forget the dead puppy in the rain incident.
Even though all of them could conceivably be thought of as signs of a growing friendship (yeah, right :P), they can also be taken as “he’s my special person” moments. If nothing else happens before the series ends, we fans can still take them as evidence and dream that their relationship will keep evolving after the series ends... that is, of course, unless one of them dies or gets involved with someone else at the last moment. -_-
