The post over at [livejournal.com profile] sga_squee about the episode Suspicion and the decisions Weir made in the episode, as well as the possible consequences/implications there of, led to a bit of of Sheppard-centric meta (linked to by [livejournal.com profile] mischief5) that I find fascinating.

Can I adopt this as my new head!canon?

It's asbsolutely genius, avoids the "Jack 2.0" problem, and is just so *John* that I want to squee.

In fact, I think I shall right now.

Well, helicopter pilots do tend to do a lot of Search and Rescue - granted, there are still gunships and whatnot, but most the AF's helicopter force is tasked for S&R. At least, that's what wikipedia tells me. So, as a helicopter pilot, it makes sense for John to have done at least some of this.

Plus, it does wonders with his "leave no one behind" philosophy.

*clutches to bosom* Headcanon Yes!

It really does explain a lot about John Sheppard.

There's a line in Rising when John looks at Elizabeth and says, "This is why you brought me." (he's about to launch a rescue now that Rodney's shown him the puddle jumpers)

When I read this meta piece it all slotted into my brain in a different and very good way.

I need to go back and read again, because it was such a quick scan, but this makes so much sense.

nihilvanum's words:

my dear
the problem is that
you love him so much
you would allow him
to drag you all the way to hell
if it meant you could
hold his hand
on the way down
