Rodney used to have a job in research; John used to be in the military. Rodney used to live alone; John hasn't lived alone in centuries. Rodney used to be human; John used to be human. Circumstances force them together and each has to learn how to cope - both as humans, and as wolves.

Note: This fic is a WIP that may be abandoned. The first two installments - Keep Holding On (either version) and Through The Rain are complete as they are, however.

I'm tired. I worked a little on my Big AU fic and it pretty much sucked all the energy out of me. Also came across this post (which shall go unnamed) that was pretty hard on several SGA fics that I love. So now I'm feeling down. I think I may go to bed.

I have no love for people who are only in fandom to squash our squee.

I think the person was trying to help her flist avoid fics that were "cliche" and other (apparently bad) things. But it just felt merciless to me :\ I don't know. Perhaps I overreacted.

I happen to love cliche fics, and sometimes there are even some not-so-good fic that I read just because I like the idea.

I don't think you over-reacted (there is no over-reacting, ever; just reacting to a given situation in your own way, which is perfectly fine).

I like when people rec something they liked, it opens new doors that you may have missed before; but I actively dislike people saying : oh, you shouldn't read this and that because it's *insert whatever rubbish reason*, because that brings absolutely nothing to anyone (or rather, it gives something to the mean people who are only happy when they cause pain and grief, you can also call them : assholes).

I really, really like this idea.

You have a really good point. Instead of listing fics and why you didn't like them, focus instead on the (many less) fics that you did like. Spread positivity, not negativity!

"Over-reaction" is one of the many ways people try to put women down, as if our feelings were somehow not right for any given situation.

Since I've read articles about that, I make it a point to tell people that no, it's not over-reacting, it's just having normal feelings and expressing them. If anything, the over-reaction is them being disturbed by a simple expression of feelings.


I so agree about just wanting to have a fun read. I mean, don't get me wrong, I jump from joy if I know there in an excellent 100k words story waiting for me, but I do the same about a 500 words silly little piece that will make me smile. There is so much material in fandom (and not just the SGA fandom); who has the time to concentrate on the negative when I'll never have enough time to actually read and watch and listen to all the great stuff out there??? (seriously, I'm keeping the links, but so far I've read so little of what you rec'ed us! .... which is great, makes the pleasure last longer :> )

I feel like it's something I should have just brushed off, not gotten so hurt and upset over. That's all I meant about over-reacting. But you have an excellent point, and I really like that way of thinking. I'm going to try and think like that from now on :D

Exactly! I'm the same way. I like it all! I don't understand focusing on the fics you didn't like *shrug* But to each their own, you know?
