life likes to piss on the poor

Our heater broke. We don't know how or why.

Our internet bill came in.

We currently have $100.

If we have to make a choice, heat wins out - we'll have to get that fixed. So I may lose the internet (the potential for this happens often, it seems). If we decide to stay in the house, our electricity bill is going to get really high because of all the electric heaters plugged in. We've had 3 offers to stay at a family friend's house, but only one comes with the internet.

I can really sympathize--I'm at a pick and choose point in my own life right now and if it weren't for the fact that I need the internet for work, that would be one of the things I'd have to let go.

I currently keep my house at 55 degrees F because I can't afford the electric bill.

Hope things turn around for you guys somehow.

My family pretty much lives by the "pick and choose" method. Since the internet is more of a luxury than anything, it's usually the first to go. I need it for school, honestly, but I can just use the school's internet while I'm there.

The winter here has been all over the place--60's one day, 20's the next. It's freaking bizarre. Fortunately, it's been more mild than frigid this year.

Sounds like that would be difficult to adjust to :\ It's so odd looking outside here and not seeing snow; Michigan is usually covered in it by now. It looks like it's October out.

It sucks really bad :( Things aren't looking quite as grim now, but. Life has always been a bit of a struggle for my family, since we're under the poverty line *shrug*

oh darling, i'm so sorry things are that rough for you and your family. is the heater totally gone, or can it somehow be repaired? here's to hoping something can be done about it! (and that it isn't ridiculously expensive, as so many things seem to be these days.)

They aren't quite sure what's wrong with it, but they said something about the "motherboard". The guy is going to try and see what he can do to get us a discount; he did get it working, for now, however. So that's something :D
