LJ is screwing up

I haven't been getting alerts when people reply to my comments, so if you wrote something to me and I haven't replied, I definitely didn't recieve anything telling me you did.

Also, LJ doesn't like it when I go to some people's profiles. The internet will x's itself out whenever I go to there. -.-

I have no idea how to fix it either.

Do you have a hotmail account? When I had hotmail address, I wouldn't receive e-mail notices from LJ, but since switching to Gmail, I haven't had any problems.

My e-mail notices go to my yahoo account. Do you know how to switch e-mails? Maybe if I switch to g-mail too (I already have an account there), I'll begin to get my notices again.

Go to Edit Profil under the Profile button, then go down to Contact Information - Primary E-Mail. Then change the e-mail address listed. Save changes, and voila! I believe you'll be asked to verify like you did when you first opened your account.

try going to internet options and clear history, cookies and temp files. then run a spyware check. that's what used to mess mine up.

What e-mail service do you get your alerts sent to? Because yellowhorde had problems with hotmail, and I'm having issues with my yahoo.

Mine worked perfectly in the beginning. I've been on LJ for months now, and it's just starting to screw up.

Please let me know if you begin to have problems with it. It may take several months, like it did for me.

It's entirely possible that the problem is my computer or the LJ site, and not my e-mail. I'll just have to see.

Well, G-mail is working just fine for me. I'm getting alerts again (which is a relief). But I don't know if it's because I cleared out my temp files/cookies/history, or if it's because I switched e-mails.

But as long as it's working, I'm happy!

I have MS Outlook and it's fine. No problem moving around using IE 6 as a browser either, except when LJ itself is slow. If you can't get to profiles, try using LJ's help or sending an email to their tech peeps, especially if it used to work before. The cookie/cache/history cleaning and a virus scan wouldn't hurt one bit, but this sounds more like a config problem - either their's or your's, though a trojan or something may have changed your configs way back when.
Try Pandascan also, for a deep scan, since it may be a registry change or something.
You may also want to move to Safari or Opera, if it's the OS.
Try the simple things first and see what might work....Good luck!

I did clear my cookie/temp files/history, and my computer runs a virus scan automatically whenever I get on. It hasn't found any threats, and my scan usually finds trojans and other problematic bugs. I've never heard of pandascan -- I'll have to check it out. I've changed my e-mail as well, just to be sure.

I'll have to search the LJ help for some answers, and if I don't find anything I'll be sure to ask the tech peeps. If the problem is with my configs, I'm not sure I'll be able to figure out how to fix them. While I'm good with computers, I'm not an expert. -.-
