So, my co-manager Sarah has left. And they've given the job to someone I did NOT want to get it.

We don't have support from our store manager. Our market manager is the "work wife" to our store manager, so she won't have our backs. And now we have a team lead who is not a good fit with our department.

I'm so fucked.

I know you're here mostly to vent... but all the best advice I can share from reading Ask A Manager.... (great web site): I know you know most of this but I'm hoping it's helpful to hear it again...

--start looking for another job. I know that's not simple and you're exhausted. But you need to start. And now that you have had supervisory experience, apply for jobs you don't think you can do. Men do it all the time.

--CYA. Document, document, document. Makes notes on things that go wrong. Write down directions you are given. Write down who is around when 'awkward' things happen. "Oh! Let me make a note so I don't forget to do X."

--Cheerfully confirm directions/instructions you are given. In writing, whenever possible. Emails are your friend. "Summarizing our meeting/discussion on Tuesday, you told me to do X."

--you're a supervisor. Fight for your people. Use the union to back you up. Know the rules and use them.

This is VERY smart, and I'm going to take it to heart. There's not much around here that pays well, but I can at least start looking. In the meantime, I'll cover my own a$$ and do my best to work with my new co-lead. I envision a lot of associates coming to me to complain about him in my future 😩

Uuuuuugh,I feel you. Our new(ish) coordinator is......not at all suited to working with vulnerable people and I want to bang my head against a wall every time he opens his mouth.

Between our new store manager and this new co-lead, things are beginning to look pretty grim. I'm going to keep my head down and do the best I can going forward, but I might want to start looking for another job... I'm just worried I won't find anything that pays as well.
