I'm not going to touch on the election. I spent all Tuesday and Wednesday crying, and my mental health has taken such a steep dive that I've put a temporary moratorium about anything related to politics. I'm also going to reach out to my doctor about anxiety meds, but that's going to be a whole thing. My PCP moved away and the idea of calling around to find a new doctor that took my insurance and had an opening for a new patient seemed like Too Much. So I have to do all that before I can ask about meds.

In other news, I'm learning to crochet! The wonderful escriveine has been teaching me via video chats. It has been going well? I caught on how to do a foundation chain fast, but I have been struggling a bit more with learning how to do SC's. Escriveine has been nothing but patient though <3

I finished playing Sun Haven. I love that game, and I love my boy Lucius. I've started playing Stardew Valley, but I'm at the beginning of that.

Finally, livejournal tells me it's squidgiepdx birthday! Assuming it's not lying to me: Happy birthday <3333 I hope it was a good one. You truly deserve All The Good Things.

Kudos on the crochet! I've always sucked at fabric crafts, so I'm envious of you getting a strong start! I'm glad you're getting tutorials from someone you know, that's always nice. Good luck with the learning process!

Thank you! I'm purposely taking it slow because I want a good foundation, and I feel like I'm struggling a bit with making a second line of stitches! But escriveine is endlessly patient. Also, you have a really good eye for scrapbooking, which I cannot do!

Michael's usually has classes that teach crocheting and the local library sometimes have it too. I tried it a while back but as I was doing it my stitches got tighter and it was all off. Wish I would have gotten the hang of it because all my Canadian cousins could do it. They whipped out blankets like in a week.

Yeah, my stitches get tighter and I have to fight to make it work, but that's normal for a beginner. It takes time for your hands to get used to holding and moving correctly. I'm determined to keep at it and not let my bad stitches stop me 😂

The tip about Michaels and/or the library is so good - thank you! Escriveine is doing a fantastic job, but it'd be helpful to have someone who could see in person how I'm doing my stitches and correct me.

Also good luck with the crochet! I taught myself the basics from books ages ago, but I don't do anything really fancy--I have to constantly look up how to do granny squares. :P But working on it is fantastic and at the end of it you've Made A Thing! It so fun! ♥

I eventually want to make a little doll from a video game I like, but that's far off. At this point I'm still trying to master how to attach the second line to the foundation chain 😂 Judging where I've got to thread it all together is difficult for me.

You can do it! Crochet is one of those things that's easier to pick up than you'd think, and it's a lot of fun once you get the hang of it.

I feel you. I'm excited to hear about Stardew Valley! I was thinking of playing that a little. I've been trying to play DAO again, but lately I'm too tired to do things that require me to actually pay attention.

I've been playing SDV for a bit now, and I've discovered the many useful mods for the game 😂 The game is great on its own though, exactly what I was looking for. SDV is really good for sort of...mindless, relaxing gameplay? So far that hasn't really been much "storyline" for me to keep track of. I'm just figuring out what to plant in the right season, mining, etc. It's a great way to disconnect from reality for a bit.
