If you were introducing your favorite fandom to someone new, what one episode would you make them sit down and watch?

Oh man, good question. My forever fandom is Stargate Atlantis. It really depends on what I want that person to get out of the show.

If they're the type that can't get into the show unless they enjoy the plot/worldbuilding/whatever, I'd probably start with Rising. As I told mific, it's a great introduction to the series because John doesn't know what the fuck is happening either, so you get to experience everything for the first time with him. It barely has any McShep and Rodney isn't himself (since the role was originally written for a different character) but in terms of plot and the expeditions circumstances, it does a good job.

If I wanted to introduce them to McShep, oh boy. The Shrine is probably THE McShep episode and it's really good. But I do think it has more impact if you know the characters when you watch it. John's heartbroken face and Rodney's struggle hurt more. Ooo, I think maybe Miller's Crossing. Rodney's desperation to save his sister is relatable, and he goes to John to get permission to sacrifice himself. And we learn John would go pretty fucking far for Rodney, which speaks to their bond.

My current obsession is Buzzfeed Unsolved, and I'd probably go with the D.B Cooper episode. It's early in the show so the quality isn't as high, but it does a great job showing Ryan and Shane's chemistry. It's genuinely funny and D.B Cooper is a super interesting unsolved case. For Supernatural, maybe the Bigfoot episode? The boys wandering around a forest while Shane makes a stupid Bigfoot call is fun, and they're very cute.

I'd be hard pressed to pick out an individual BFU ep. They all kind of run in together for me, one big mass of awesomeness. LOL! Later I'll be listening to their new podcast, Here's What You Do. It's pretty funny. They started filming them and putting them on YouTube.

I can't wait for you to get into the Watcher content! Whee!

I have so many emotions about Miller's Crossing loll. The emotion!

It's REALLY hard deciding what episode to have someone watch first. There's a lot of pressure to choose something that they'll like, because you want your friend(s) to love what you love. BFU was really hard lol. There are so many great moments!

I am super excited for Watcher content! Their D&D game, Puppet History - and as you mentioned, their podcast. What do you think of Steven? I haven't seen much of him interacting with both Shane and Ryan - it kind of boggles the mind trying to picture someone putting up with their combined chaotic energy.

Steven is a sweetheart, and I usually end up feeling bad for him because he's so much more grounded and Shane and Ryan usually end up rolling over him. It makes the friendship between Shane and Ryan even more obvious.

Awww, poor Steven. I can imagine what they're like when they're together. Too busy making jokes with one another to notice anyone else lolll. It's like in the Sims videos they do with Kelsey, where they just run wild and she's left sitting there making :o face the entire time lolll.

I haven't seen those videos, but that sounds about right. LOL! Steven always looks dismayed.

I admit I've never seen an episode of Worth It (and don't really plan to) but he seems sweet.

I've never seen Worth It either, but Grocery Run is pretty cute.

I totally agree with the Shrine being uber McSheppy but you need to already be invested in the characters to watch it. I'd probably start with Echoes; that little moment in the jumper when Rodney's nose starts to bleed gives a lovely little snippet of concerned John that I absolutely jump on. :)

I'm glad you agree about The Shrine! I absolutely ADORE Echoes - it's probably my favorite episode, since the McShep is so good in it. Rodney calls John to whale watch, and John shows up! John comes up with the idea to go in the jumper - he wants to take Rodney closer to his friend ♥ But the plot in it is so weird - alien whales projecting images to warn the expedition? That's...odd.

God, I really love concerned!John.

Ha ha, yeah, the plot is a bit out of left field, but the Rodney/John is exquisite. :)

What was the first SGA episode you saw?

And if you didn't start with Rising, do you wish you'd seen a different episode first?

Hmmm. I think Rising was the first full episode I saw, though my friend showed me the scene where Rodney takes an arrow to the ass and is high on morphine before I saw a single episode.

I'm happy having seen Rising first - it really is a good introduction to the show!
