Who is the first character that you fell in love with?

Hmmm. I'm afraid I don't have much of an interesting answer for this question. I honestly don't remember. Harry Potter was probably my first obsession - it was certainly my first fandom. I reread all of the books multiple times and I can't even tell you how much fanfiction I read - and I wasn't picky about ships. I remember keeping a little notebook where I'd painstakingly write out the URL to fics I liked. But would I say that it was the first character I fell in love with? I feel like there should have been one before that, but maybe not?

I'm going to go with Harry Potter, because I can't think of anything else lol.

You were absolutely in love with the fandom, at the very least. And there's nothing wrong with that.

The only reading I've done in HP is for things a friend wrote, and she was pretty free with her pairings so I am too. ::grins::

It was my first fandom, and then I went something like 12 years not reading anything for it. And now I'm a pretty dedicated Harry/Draco shipper, BUT I am insanely picky about what fic I read.

I joined fandom when I was 11, so a wee popkin is not off the mark! Thank god for bookmarking sites now, that's all I can say.

I can't imagine writing URLs down and then typing them in later. That's dedication!

I was online in the '90s, so I must have had some method. Maybe I copied and pasted them into a WordPerfect doc, which was then saved on a floppy? (Yes, I'm old. :D )

I felt stupid when I later realized I could just sign up for an account and add fics to my favorites, but I remind myself that I was just a baby and had nobody to guide me.

God, I remember floppy disks. I had like, 20 of them just full of pictures of cute actors lolll.

I still have some. I'm sure they're full of X-Files stories and whatever else caught my eye, which definitely included photos. :D

Like you Harry Potter was my first fandom, in fact it's actually how I discovered fanfiction in the first place when I was looking online for the next Harry Potter book and discovered fanfic on fanfiction.net and a whole new world opened up for me.

HP isn't how I found fanfiction - funnily enough, a friend of mine linked me to a Princess Diaries fanfic on ff.net. I wasn't at all interested in the fic, but I explored the site and found the HP section and was DONE.

Now I initially read that as Princess Diana fanfic and I was all 'why is she reading about Princess Diana'. Sigh. But ff.net was good in it's day. Do people still post to it?

As far as I can tell, ff.net still gets traffic! Which is crazy to me, but I guess since it has "fanfiction" write in the title it's easy to google?

Weirdly enough I had an email from ff.net the other day notifying me that an author I used to follow on there had uploaded a new chapter of their fic, and I had completely forgotten about the author. Good author but I wouldn't even know how to log into my account anymore.

Yeah, I get those notifications too - it's weird. I also wouldn't know how to log into my account anymore. I'm not sure the email I used to sign up is even still around...
