I started my job today. We moved around a lot while I was growing up, so I never had the chance to get one in high school. Working sucks. I got a job at Subway and I'm overwhelmed with all the information being thrown at me. I haven't had any hands on training yet, just online training, and today I was scheduled to work from 5-10. Which is fine (but exhausting), except it was during dinner rush, and I hadn't been trained yet. So I'm put on the line making sandwiches, and it goes about as well as you'd expect, which is to say, not well.
The people I worked with were nice about it - for varied definitions of nice - and helped me as they could, but they were swamped, so they couldn't take the time to really explain things to me. We punch in via the cash register, and because of the rush, I didn't get the chance to punch in until I'd been there for an hour or two, which sucks. And then they put me on temperature check, where you basically check the various temperatures of the food to make sure they aren't too low/too high, and I recorded them on a chart. But now I'm worried I was supposed to do something more with those temperatures (besides just record them), that I left the paperwork unfinished, and I'm nervous that it's a ~big screw up on my part.
I have orientation tomorrow, which the manager said usually takes about two hours, and I'm praying she doesn't ask me to stay and work (or reprimand me for the screw ups above, incomplete paperwork/punch in issues). I just want to do orientation and sleep off my first day :P I work from 8-3 on Thursday and Friday, so it's early to bed, early to rise, and there's nothing schedule for Friday/Saturday, as far as I know.
So. Worked sucked today, with being thrown into the fray, messing up, and the back/feet aches. And I have to do it again tomorrow, for at least two hours. (Please not more than that!)
I've looked for a job for so long, and I'm grateful I have one now. But I'm feeling extremely NOPE NOPE about it right now.
I just want to read fic~
