It's always John in fic. Genderswitch fic? John. Chosen for an alien ritual? John. Skittish in bed? John. Turned into a slave? John.

I think part of the reason I like it when Rodney is chosen or whatever, is because it happens so rarely in fic. Well, that and he's my favorite.

Maybe I'm just not very good at finding fic the other way around? I hope that's it, and I've just run into a streak of John-is-chosen-for-everything.

Baaah I know what you mean! And me, I'm not even attracted to John at all, so John-centric fics are just not for me, but they're EVERYWHERE. Although I have run across quite a few genderswitch Rodney fics...I thought he was the one who usually got that haha

I'm attracted to John, but the theme of John being chosen gets tiresome after awhile. Oh yes, genderswitch is one of those tropes that is surprisingly close to being even (in terms of John and Rodney). But I think John tends to be the one chosen most often.

I mean, I love John, he's my 2nd favorite, but geezus. Focus on someone else, please fandom?

*LOL* Okay, that's pretty much my thinking whenever I highlight a warning and it turns out to be a BDSM, S/M or Slave-fic. I don't have to read further, I just *know* it's John who's going to find out he loves to bottom, being humiliated, spanked, forced down etc.

My problem? I just don't see John "Your game’s a little too much like my day job" Sheppard fall for that.

Alas - the rest of the fandom seems to think otherwise and it doesn't even seem to matter if it's slash or het-fic. John is apparently not only able to turn Rodney into a hard-core master just by looking at him, he's also turning even Elizabeth and Sam into dominatrixes just by existing it seems. ;-)

I'm glad it's not just me! I might be biased, since my first fic *ever* that had BDSM was sub!Rodney/dom!John, so it's difficult for me to see him any other way. I don't really get sub vibes off him, considering how much he seems to dislike authority.

I confess I don't know about the het side of things, but I'm not surprised it's much the same. I wonder why so many authors write him that way?
