Dec. 12th, 2009 12:43 amI recently lost all of the music on my ipod, and I'm (very) slowly replacing what I've lost. The interesting thing about being on the hunt for music is you find new music, things that touch you deep inside.
I love music like this. Soft, calm; it makes me sit back and just listen, which I never do anymore. It's like Damien Rice's Delicate (which I couldn't find my version of on youtube), I don't think about what's going on in my life or what fanfiction I'm planning. These two are songs that I listen to when I want to relax, when I'm in that odd half-state between awake and asleep, where everything is soft and fuzzy and warm and right. Sia's Breathe Me is another one like that makes me still, makes me shut off my brain.
Fanfiction is a great way to find music. It's how I found Norah Jones, how I found The Water is Wide. Not all of it is soft and lovely (I am, after all, very fond of rock music and angst!fic), but it makes me feel good. Fanmixes are my love, because not only do I find new music but I discover new ways of looking at old, familiar faces.
So, now I'm going back to replacing my old music (so much was lost T_T ) and keeping an eye out for new things. Hopefully I'll run into more songs like these. Hopefully.

Date: 2009-12-14 08:07 am (UTC)Usually it takes a couple times of listening before a song will really touch me, but the beauty of rain hit me the first time I heard it.
Oh god, you always know the best music, seriously, I just want to make a playlist with the songs you recc'd and just...stick them on there and listen to it on repeat. *hugs* Thank you! These are all exactly what I was looking for, soft and soothing.
And that last song? Oh my god, it made me tear up. What a gorgeous voice, geezus.
