Oops, I fell behind again!

Day 06: List three fics that have changed your life in some way.

1. Intersections by kaneko - This fic changed my life. This was the first SGA fic I had ever read, even before watching an episode of the show. It was linked to me by the wonderful sapphirestar_ who also took the time to make me a reclist so I had someplace to start (the SGA fandom is so large). This fic was my introduction to this fandom, to the tv show and ship that would become my passion for going on 3 years (or so) now.

2. Unsuffer Me  by shaenie - This was sort of a threshold fic for me. This fic is kinky without going to extremes, and I remember reading this fic and finding it all unbelievably hot. This fic set me on the road to discovering kink!fic, which I had never had any interest in. It lead to xanthe's BDSM Universe series, which opened my world to all sorts of other kinks (some I like, some I don't).

3. Indelible by shaenie - I love this fic. When people ask for my favorite SGA fic, this is inevitably the one I name. I love the sexual tension, how it builds so slowly, and I love the author's OC and how she gave Lorne a large role in the fic. The plot is fantastic, the sexual tension is hot, and so is the relieving of that tension ;) It's long (yay!) and it was the first fic I downloaded when I got my Kindle. It changed my life, because it's now the standard against which I judge all of "Fandom Greats" (and some published books). Written by the Victors? Okay, but it's no Indelible. That Merlin fic Drastically Redefining Protocol? Good fic, great actually, but not as amazing as Indelible (IMO). I finished this fic, felt safisfied and in love and I remember thinking, "This is what all fic should aspire to be."

Hmmm. I love "Intersections" too. The others... well, they're not my cup of tea, but I did find them well-written, which is something I guess.

I think I need to re-read Intersections - it's been too long. And I seem to remember reading somewhere you saying you don't care for kink!fic, so I'm not surprised Unsuffer Me wasn't your cup of tea :) To each their own, I say :D

Yeah... There are some kink!fics I enjoy, but, mostly, I can't get into them.
I need to reread "Intersections" too.. but tomorrow. Sleep now.

I like them, but I'm very specific in my tastes. Unfortunately, my tastes run the opposite if fandoms *shrug* I'm working on that thought. Do you not like kink!fic for kink!fic's sake? Like, if there's a long, plotty fic that includes kink, you don't mind it?

And, yeah. I like plot. If there's kink in plot, I'll read it, maybe even like it, but if it's just kink for kink's sake, I can't. Oooh, maybe that's my kink - plot. Hmm. There's got to be an icon out there for that.

I've noticed the longer I'm in this fandom, the more I want plotty fic, and only occasionally will I want something porn-y. Haha, if the icon isn't already made, you could make it yourself. I would offer to make it, but my graphic abilities is nil.

INTERSECTIONS. ♥ man, how did i not even remember that fic? clearly i need to re-read it, because i remember loving it to bits, but i can't for the life of me remember why that is. :D TOTES READING IT AGAIN! :D

I associate that fic with you, since it was the first fic for this fandom that I had ever read, and you had linked me to it :P You should definitely re-read it, I just did and it's as wonderful as I remember :D It was really interesting read about bb!Rodney and bb!John XD

OK, I admit, I was Hoovering through your journal because I enjoyed your "Rodney McKay [Meta]" post & Thrall so much, & I 'happened' across this post & the Shaenie squee. I'm compelled to add that I love Indelible & Unsuffer Me* a lot, but Harmonic Function was hir HOMG button-mash fic for me. (The complementary Dom!John fic, for me, is the pre-SGA fic Command Structure by Tzigane and Zaganthi.)

As far as unforgettable fics, Shaenie's With Intent is one for me: something about it perfectly invokes the rightness & sheer inevitability of McShep that I enjoy so much. I can enjoy reading about other pairings, even for John or Rodney, but there's something about John & Rodney as the destined-to-be Odd Couple that just tickles my cockles. <3 <3

I'm glad you liked the meta and my fic ♥ I love all of Shaenie's work, too :D Indelible and Unsuffer Me are probably my favorites XD I do like Harmonic Function, but I'm not a huge fan of sub!John. But mmmm, that fic *is* hot, yeah. OH MAN SOMEONE ELSE WHO KNOWS THE FIC Command Structure! 8D I love that fic and often re-read it XD Sooo good~

I love the idea of John & Rodney and "inevitability" going together :) Probably because they're my OTP, but they have such a fantastic connection, and have right from the beginning. And how amazingly characterized is With Intent? LOVE.

ME TOO OMG OMG. Though I'm not sure what she's been up to lately, because she hasn't posted. But I do hope she follows through with that promise of a part two ;) I WANT IT SO MUCH.
